![]() This paper builds on an historical case study to describe how the conference theme of the “city as organism” may be used to characterize the urban morphology and building typology of the emerging city of industrial production. Key words: river-cities, physical form, space syntax properties, structured and distributed cities. In addition, tracking the pattern of river-cities and their interaction to rivers may lead us to interoperate the physical form of these cities in terms of structured and distributed cities. The primary result shows that although a river is not comparable to a city based on size and the area occupied by, it has a significant effect on the form of a city in both global and local properties. Comparing the states of presence and absence of rivers in these cities as well as evaluating the effect of rivers on the morphology of areas located in different banks of rivers are also part of interest in this paper. ![]() To this purpose I use space syntax method integrating with geospatial analysis and extract the properties of physical form of cities in terms of global and local integration value, choice value and so on. My study area is river-cities in Sweden in which they have not received much attention in this issue. ![]() In this paper I intend to find out the influence of rivers on the morphology of a cities and discuss that how a city in its physical network interacts with a river flowing inside. Rivers as one of the most important topographic factor have played a strategic role not only on the appearance of cities but they also affect the structure and morphology of cities. This integrated methodology is intended to help elucidate both the morphological dynamics of post-socialist Tirana and the broader implications of this urban transformation for Albanian society. An initial survey of land uses is done for the case study areas. The configurational data is mapped to geo-referenced datasets of Tirana at the building scale, including details of building age and legal status. Conzenian and space syntax approaches provide the methodological basis for morphological research into Tirana’s post-socialist built environment. The paper draws on the Tirana case study to comment on the nature of social change in the Albanian context, and the way in which ‘planned ’and ‘unplanned’ urban environments have contributed to the emergence of distinctive modes of urban life. The variety of post-socialist urban transformation morphologies can tell us much about the particular nature of urban growth in Albania under conditions of unrestrained, loosely regulated, development. It identifies four distinctive patterns of informal growth in contemporary Tirana. This paper begins the process of addressing this deficiency. The impact of this urbanisation on Albanian society has been profound, but currently there are no systematic studies of the morphological processes that have transformed Albanian cities. While rapid urbanization fuelled by mass migration from the countryside to cities is commonly observed in many East European countries Albania’s post-socialist urban form has been strongly influenced by the dramatic upheaval in land ownership that has taken place in the context of an inadequately developed legal system and involved the systematic appropriation of open space by developers. ![]() ![]() If you're in the Ice Cream industry in India, our research will help you to make informed, intelligent decisions to recognise and profit from opportunity, or to offer resilience amidst market uncertainty. This research focuses on the urban transformation of Tirana, the capital of Albania, following the end of the communist regime in the early 1990s.
